Margret “Maggie” Kahler, 81, of Cedar Rapids passed away at her home on October 16, 2014.  Visitation will be held today from 4 to 7 PM at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.  Services will be held on Sunday at 2 PM at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories with Rev. Sonda Kirsteatter of Olivet Presbyterian Church will officiate.  Burial will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Survivors include one son William (Cherie) Kahler of Ankeny, IA; one daughter, Alonna (Tracy) Schreiner of Cedar Rapids, her grandchildren, Melissa Kahler of Denver, CO; Jennifer (Tom) Flynn of Omaha; Megan (Tyler) Custis of Elk Point, SD; Joshua (Ashley) Schreiner of Cedar Rapids and Benjamin Schreiner and special friend, Sarah of Chicago; and 3 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Jr., her parents, 4 sisters, and 2 brothers.

Margret was born November 27, 1932 on a farm near Vinton, Iowa to Emeral and Clara Warner Meeks.  She attended the one room school house and later graduating from Van Horne High School.  She married Everett Kahler, Jr. on June 7, 1953 at Olivet Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids.  She worked as Personnel Director at (Nissen Corp) Universal Gym, retiring in October 1995.  

Margret was a long time member of Olivet Presbyterian Church serving as a Deacon.

She enjoyed her grandchildren, loved working in the yard and taking care of their pool.  She will be greatly missed for her sense of humor and embroidery work.
