Geraldine M. Grimm, 92, of Cedar Rapids died Tuesday October 28, 2014 at St. Luke’s Hospital after a short illness. Memorial services at 1:00 PM on Saturday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Survivors include two sons, Rick (Rachel) Grimm and Bob (Katharine Lee) Grimm, three daughters, Joni (Mark) Perry, Sue (Warren) Thomas, and Jackie Svetly (Dean Stumbo); 13 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Grimm; two still born children; parents; sister, Betty (Nate) Walker; brothers, Bud (Bev) Weaver and Duane (Yvonne) Weaver; grandson, Scott Svetly; and son-in-law, Gary Svetly.

Geraldine was born on May 29, 1922 in Anamosa the daughter of Earl and Marie Hughes Weaver.  She graduated from Marion High School in 1940.  She married Harold L. Grimm on Aug. 31, 1941 in Lancaster, Missouri. Harold passed away in 1971.  Geraldine worked at J.C. Penney, Woolworth, Collins Radio, Food Service in Cedar Rapids Schools, and the dessert baker at Jefferson. She was a charter member of Hobby Club and Immanuel Baptist.  She was a big Hawkeye fan who made her kids go to Iowa State.  Geraldine loved to read, sew, play cards, and bake cookies.  But mostly loved spending time with her family and friends.  At 91 years, she conquered the IPad and loved watching the sporting activities across the street from her house.  She was a very independent lady who lived at home and was still driving at 92.

Thank you to the staff at St. Luke’s for their care; especially the CCU.
