Lois Craig of Cedar Rapids passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at St. Luke's Hospital. Visitation will be 4 to 7 PM at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Monday. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories.  Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer will officiate. Entombment will follow in Cedar Memorial Cemetery.

Lois is survived by her son Donald and daughter-in-law Julie of Marion, Iowa; her daughter Barbara of Irvington, New York; and her brother Ray, of Cedar Falls, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Ola Frederick, sisters Alice Koval and Ruth Ambinder, and her husband Harold.

Lois Irene Frederick was born May 1, 1924 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and attended schools in Alburnett and Marion. Lois graduated from Iowa State Teachers College in 1946. She then taught school in Mount Ayr, Iowa, where she met fellow teacher Harold Craig. They married in 1948 and lived in Muscatine, Iowa until 1959, when the family moved to Bloomfield, Iowa. For many years Lois was the head of the local hospital's bookkeeping department.

Her Frederick and Craig families were sources of great joy to Lois. She loved to host visiting nieces and nephews, and she could be counted on to record family reunions and gatherings in meticulously organized photo albums.

Lois and Harold enjoyed retirement. They moved to Cedar Rapids in 1988. They were frequently on the road touring many states and making extended stays near family members in Texas and Arizona. After Harold's death in 1991, Lois remained in Cedar Rapids, where in 1996 she became one of the first residents of the Deer Ridge condominiums in the Meth-Wick Community. She has been an active Meth-Wick resident for nearly 20 years.
