George A. Rstom died peacefully Sunday June 29, 2014 surrounded by his family at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha following in extended illness. 

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8pm on Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home with a vigil service starting at 4:00pm. A private family service will be held at a later date. Burial will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. 

Surviving is his wife of 72 years Jeanette; daughter Sharon Turner of Lutz, FL, son Ronald Rstom of Hiawatha; 7 grandchildren;14 great-grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; 3 step- great grandchildren; 2 step-great great grandchildren; 4 sisters Esther (Walter) Zellmer of Mankato, MN, Delores Weimer of Mankato, MN, Jean Kruse of Mankato and Carol (Joseph) Schefter of Modesto, CA  He was preceded in death by his parents 2 sons Rory Rstom and Richard Rstom; a brother Herbert Rstom.

George was born March 24, 1920 in Mankato, MN. He was the son of Naiff and Frances Abdo Rstom. He attended school at Mankato in Minnesota. On February 12, 1942 George and Jeanette Rorah were united in marriage in De Witt, Iowa. George worked for the Rock Island Railroad as a yardmaster for over 30 years before retiring in 1980. He was a member of St Matthews Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. 

George was a loving husband, Father, Grandfather and friend and will be missed dearly by those closest to him.
