Wallace “Wally” F. Pinckney, 89, of Cedar Rapids passed away Sunday, July 20, 2014 at Northbrook Manor, Cedar Rapids.

A visitation celebrating Wally’s life will be held from 4-7 pm Tuesday, July 22 at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at Westminster Presbyterian Church with Rev. Emory Gillespie officiating. Private burial will be held in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. 

Survivors include his wife Jeanne; Children, Bill (Dionne) Pinckney of Cedar Rapids, John (Carol) Pinckney of Muncie, IN and Anne (Gary) Althoff of Marion; grandchildren, Kara Reiber, Blake (Naomi) Pinckney, Jordan (Aubree) Pinckney, Adam Pinckney, Mariah Althoff, Elliott Althoff and Jason Duplaga; great grandchildren, Johnathan and Lilly Reiber; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Joann Redel.

Wallace Franklin Pinckney was born October 25, 1924 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa the son of Edward and Lila (Wesner) Pinckney. He served in the First Air Wing of the First Marine Division during World War II. He graduated from Coe College in 1949 and married Jeanne Ferguson on August 6, 1949 in Cedar Rapids. Wally was a produce broker  from 1950 – 1983.  He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, was an avid golfer where he won the Cedar Rapids Men’s and Senior City Amateur, and the 1986 Father/Daughter State golf tournament. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
