Bob was born March 26, 1922 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Orville and Florence (Raftery) Hofferd.  Bob graduated from Immaculate Conception Catholic School in 1940. Bob served in the United States Air Force from December 1942- December 1945. He was stationed all over the United States and in General Patton’s Army. He actually saw General Patton a number of times. Bob’s small company was responsible for everything coming and going. General Patton needed gas for the vehicle that he was riding in and told the units to “steal it any way you know how.” Bob’s company managed to divert a train full of gas. He married Regina “Gina” Weber on May 11, 1946 in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids.  Bob worked 15 years in the wholesale lumber business and another 20 years at Rockwell Collins. Bob was a member of All Saints Catholic Church. He enjoyed golfing, building things and his passion was in remodeling houses, friends, family, and faith in God.
