Harriett, Allen and family How saddened I am at learning of Merle's passing. I know "The McGrews" through Stone City Open Mic and have befriended them there. I later learned they were very close friends (and classmate) with my Great Uncle Jim Moyer. Merle so enjoyed sharing the gift of music and was so entertaining to listen to. God speed friend, will miss you. Hugs to Harriett.

Our sympathy and love goes out to Harriet and the family. I know Merle & Harriet through Stone City open mics, and helped back them up on stage a few times. Everyone always loved when they came on-stage. There are many people that will always remember him.

My Condolences to Harriet, Allen and Family; I was fortunate to know Merle from sharing a musical stage with him at the Stone City Open Mics. He and Harriet adopted me as their "new piano player". He was surprised that I didn't know all of their old tunes but I quickly learned them so that I could share in the joy that Merle and Harriet brought into the General Store. Thank you Merle....your music will live on.

Harriet, Allen & Family, Both Rose and I have many fond memories of Merle and Harriet sharing their love of music at all the Whittier jams. We smiled every time we saw both of you come in to play and could always tell how much love you have for one another. It was my privilege to have had a final opportunity to play with Merle on July 22 at Higley Mansion when Harold Gray and I were there to perform. The jam after the jam was quite fun and we were so glad that Merle had his harmonicas and was able to play along. He will be missed, yet his love for music will continue to live with all of us. Merle played often at Stone City open mic. I was fortunate to know him, last seeing him on 7/21. I was amazed that he joined in with a perfectly wailing harmonica, on America the Beautiful! Bill Schettler

I was so saddened to hear of Merle's passing. I enjoyed your Dad and Mom tremendously theses last few years. I was so glad I was able to pay them a visit at Summit and truly enjoyed my time with them. My parents really enjoyed being their neighbors. Thinking of all of you, sending prayers your way. Paula Allison

We are so sorry to hear of your loss of Merle. We had not seen you two for many Years, but it was our pleasure to have known him. We keep you and your family in our prayers. Robert & Betty Grundmeier

It was our pleasure to call this wonderful man part of our family as he is great-grandfather to our beloved grandchildren. We enjoyed being with him and Harriet, both such vibrant people. We will miss him. He leaves a wonderful legacy. And already our grandson has told me that his love of playing music comes from his great-grandfather. Our sympathy to Harriet and all the family. Donna and Rick Flynn

We were so sad to hear of Merles passing. He was such a special person. We enjoyed both he and Harriets music. We have Merle and all his family in our prayers. God bless . Bill and Marlene

I am sad to hear of the passing of Merle. My thoughts are with you Harriet. I grew up right next door to Merle and Harriet in Springville, (Harold and Nancy Allison) and just saw them and visited with them at Walmart last year. A kind man who was a good neighbor. Harriet is a kind and wonderful lady. A Springville man all his life...make a good man out of you. :) A long and prosperous life, and to be married to the same gal for 70+ years, is an awesome achievement. Again, I'm sorry for his passing. Kent

Harriet and family, so sorry to hear of Merle's passing. Lots of great memories at Wapsi Country Club. Thoughts and prayers are with you.

I am sorry to hear of his passing and I offer my sincere sympathies to Merle's family. I shared an office with Merle for several months in the early 1970s and found him to an honest and fair man with a keen handle on mechanical engineering. I'm proud to have known him.
