Mother-Martha Jane Jondle, 94, of Shellsburg, passed away peacefully in her sleep July 22, 2014 at Hospice Center in St Luke’s Hospital with her daughters and son-in-law present. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Martha Jane Burgess was born on April 1, 1920 I Tony Wisconsin to James Daniel Burgess and Olga Burgess. In November, 1944 Martha married Charles Jondle and they enjoyed 50 years together. Two daughters were born to this union. Charles died in 1994.
Martha is survived by her two daughters; Gloria Jean Spencer (Elmer) of Shellsburg, IA, and Carol Ann Floyd, of Cedar Rapids, IA.; 4 grandchildren: Brian Spencer, Tricia Bender, Mia (John) Shreve, and Mona Maldonado (Robert) and 8 great-grandchildren Charles Destiny Bender, Ashley and Jordan Young, Anthony Evens, Thomas and Ileshia Montesrin, Timothy Evens and Emma Maldonado; 3 great-great-grandchildren Michael and London Evens, Braydon Montesrin.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles and grandson Timothy Evens, 2 sisters, Hazel Seagreen and Violet Mechelke, 1 brother Leo Burgess.
Martha and Charles enjoyed 13 years of travel before his death. Martha always had a smile to share with everyone and a story to tell her grandchildren. After dad died she moved to Wisconsin with her sister Hazel. She enjoyed getting reacquainted with her sister. They enjoyed making quilts and various crafts for many years.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spending time with all her family.
