Mr. Crotty was a valued member of our community. He will be missed.

Although I hadn't seen Uncle Ed as often as I would have liked in recent years, I am so grateful that I made a special trip to see him last April when I was in Iowa. It was a trip that I will always cherish. He loved his daughters and sons-in-law, his grandkids, his Hawkeyes, his brothers and sisters, and especially his dear Esther. You never mentioned one without mentioning the other. Now they are happy together again. I am thankful for all the fun memories I have of both of them and my dear cousins, especially going to CR to visit in the summertime. I am so sorry for his death, but I am so glad he lived so long and he was my uncle!! Go Hawkeyes!!! Love to you all, Cousin Kate (Kathy)

We will never forget Ed and Esther and their entire family. Ed and Esther were our neighbors at Preston Terrace for a number of years. They were like parents to Jerry and me, and like grandparents to our son, Grant. Grant and I were just talking this morning about the fun we used to have. Grant remembers as a little boy riding to the Iowa football games in Ed's motor home. Grant said, "It is nice that he can be with Esther again." Even though we have not been able to see them during the past few years, memories of Ed and Esther will always remain in our hears. We consider them family and love them so much!! We often laugh and remember Ed when we go to Carlos O'Kelly's and order chile' con qweezo the way that Ed used to say it. While we are sad that Ed is no longer here, our thoughts of him and Esther will always be happy ones. Love, The Evers

I remember Ed so well at Rockwell-Collins. He was an excellent IBEW representative that I was a member of. My toughts and prayers to your family. God Bless and Keep You All. (remember the good times). Amen

I was lucky enough to have enjoyed many good times with Ed and Esther, my brother and Penny. He was a friend that genuinely cared deeply for his big family and many close friends. His laughter and sweet face will always be close to my heart. I know he had a big welcoming party in Heaven. All is well. Rest easy. Love Emily

Never would I see Ed that he would not have a smile on his face. His laughter just made you happy. Both Ed and Esther were some of the best people that you could ever know. I feel blessed to have known them both for many years. They were a wonderful couple and now they are together again. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the family at this very sad time.

Ed was such a nice man; always smiling. I have very fond memories of him and Esther from my childhood when they would get together with my grandparents Stan and Irma Drahos. When I was in the pep band in college at the University of Iowa, I would wave to them at every basketball game and Esther would be wearing a bright red flashing pin so I could find them easily. My deepest condolences to the family for your loss; I'll be thinking of you during this difficult time. -Megan (Drahos) Hoffman

Cindy, You have our condolences and prayers at this time of your sorrow. I think of your parents every time I put the turkey your mother made for me on the table at Thanksgiving. I can visualize your parents inspecting parts at Collins Radio. They were super nice people. Merle and Dona Pierce

To the Crotty family: I am sorry for your loss. I was neighbor of Ed and Esther when they lived at Preston Terrace. They were great neighbors and always fun to be around.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Ed was quite the character and very much respected by many. Numerous times we asked to join your parents to Iowa basketball games...it was so nice for them to take us and we always had a great time. I know that myself and my parents cherish the fun times and the great friendship. May God Bless all of the family during this difficult time and know that the two of them have been united in eternity. Patty and Craig Serovy (Earl and Donna Tharp)
