Thomas R. Simonsen, 71, of Martelle, died on Thursday, December 25, 2014 at his home. Visitation will be on Monday, December 29 from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday at 11 AM at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Thomas Ray Simonsen was born on January 14, 1942 in Cedar Rapids to Ingeman and Doris Coker Simonsen. He enjoyed John Deere Collectables, stock car racing, collecting toys and going to classic toy shows.
He is survived by his children, Tim Simonsen of Lecompton, KS; Brett (Tara) Simonsen of Fairfax; Lynn (Merlyn) Morris of Ely, Iowa; Chris Simonsen of Cedar Rapids; and Renee Martens of Leawood, KS; his sister, Lesa Simonsen of Oxford Junction; 8 grandchildren, Christina, Brandon, Miranda, Dalton, Dakota, Nicole, Jessica, and Nicholas; and 3 great grandchildren, Taylor, Brayden, and Garrett.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents.
