Sylvia Padzensky age, 95 died Monday December 8, 2014 at Cottage Grove Place in Cedar Rapids.

Service will be held at 1:00pm Wednesday December 10, 2014 at Temple Judah in Cedar Rapids. Rabbi Todd Thalblum will officiate at the service. Burial will be at the Eben Israel Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.

Surviving are 4 grandchildren Lanie (Steven) Etkind of New City, NY, Ron (Debby) Padzensky of Deerfield, IL, Dan (Crystal) Padzensky of Snowqualmie, WA and Jeremy Isenberg of Washington DC; 6 great grandchildren Jamie, Josh, Eliot, Miles, Jordyn and Madysen; daughter-in-law Linda Lipman of Northbrook, IL and son-in-law Roy Isenberg of Silver Spring, MD; She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edward; 3 children Jerome Padzensky, Riki Padzensky and Bonnie Isenberg; and  brother Ben Polisky.

Sylvia Padzensky was born July 7, 1919 in Chicago, Illinois. She was the daughter of Samuel and Sarah Braverman Polisky. Edward and Sylvia were married on November 24, 1938 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  Their love affair lasted more than 50 years, and Ed had Sylvia on a pedestal the entire time.
Together Ed and Sylvia built a wonderful life, and enjoyed raising their family, traveling and spending time with good friends.  Although Sylvia endured many tragedies in her life, she always appreciated her gifts, often telling people how “lucky” she was.  Sylvia was loved by all who knew her.

Friends and family are invited to Sylvia’s apartment, 130 Thompson Drive SE, following the service.  The family will be sitting shiva starting at 5pm Wednesday and Thursday evening at this location. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Edward & Sylvia Padzensky Youth Scholarship Fund at Temple Judah.
