Margaret J. Nichols, 90, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, December 15, 2014 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.   Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, December 18, 2014 at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories.  Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 17, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.  Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.  
 
Margaret is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Lod Nichols, two daughters: Diane (Ward) Utterback of Reedsburg, WI;  Penny Wetzel of Cedar Rapids; 5 grandchildren, Melanie (Mike) Fortin, Melinda Kadera, Melissa (Chris) Stumpff all of Cedar Rapids; James Utterback of Madison, WI; Michael Utterback of Reedsburg, WI; 3 great-grandchildren, Ella and Eli Fortin and Stella Stumpff; 4 sister-in-laws, Dorothy Jean Loudon, Carol Knoll, Jane Knoll, Shirley Knoll and many loving nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends, especially Winston Landt for whom she provider care to for many years.   

She was preceded in death by her parents; son Orville C. Nichols; 2 grandsons, Dennis Kadera and Evan Wetzel; 7 brothers, Orville Wayne, Lee, Richard, George, Robert, Herbert and Sam; 2 sisters, Helena and Muriel.   

Margaret was born April 12, 1924 in Webster City to Orville and Bernice (Thompson) Knoll.  She was united in marriage to Lod W. Nichols on December 26, 1948 in Webster City, Iowa.  Margaret was a homemaker who cared for her family.  Margaret enjoyed airshows, fishing, playing board games, reading, crocheting, and most importantly spending time with family. She will forever be remembered for her kind smile, humor, and her love given to all especially to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.

A special thank you to the nurses and doctors at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy for their tender, loving, care given to Margaret.
