Dennis John Callas, 70, of Cedar Rapids, died suddenly on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at his home, in his sleep.
A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
He was born February 1, 1944 in Cedar Rapids. He was married to Mae Callas on July 23, 1994. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He had been employed at St. Luke’s Hospital for ten years, where he made many friends.
He always put family before himself, and loved to garden and sit with family and friends. He loved playing cribbage with Mae nearly every day for twenty years.
He is survived by his wife Mae; children: Christine (Jon) Patterson; Kelly (Charles) Johnson; Kim (Tarek) Schoner; Doug Hardin; David Hardin; step-children: Vicki (Tom) Morris; Dennis (Cheryl) Lloyd; and Jim Lloyd; twenty-two grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and brother Dick (Jane) Callas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Diane and Mary Kay.
