Back in 1961 when I was Tom Hedge's friend and classmate at Franklin Junior High, he invited me to visit his family home on Linden Drive. There I met his most gracious mom Sally Stamats Hedges. She showed me around their elegant Colonial Revival house, with its famous Grant Wood decorations. She served Tom and me her homemade lemonade and cookies. She also knew and liked my own mother, then a cashier at Eagle's Foods on first avenue. Mrs. Hedges was very kind to me! And I miss her.

Sally dear was my matron of honor 65 years ago! She was a Darling and I finally lost track as I have been living in Haverford Pa and Seattle Wa. I just found her Memorial. I loved Sally and Fed, and their dear parents. My love to their children.

Dear Tom, Sarah, Nancy, Mary and all the Hedges. I just learned your mom died when our Christmas card to her came back and we looked her up on line (we didn't send out any cards last year). She was such a beautiful person inside and out. You had truly great parents. I loved and admired them--as did likely all who knew them. I am deeply saddened by your loss. Patty (Smith) Baer

To all the Hedges from all the Erdmans we extend our sincerest condolences for the loss of your dear mother. She brought many a smile to all of us, for which we are grateful. With fondness, The Erdman Family

Dear Tom, Sarah, Nancy and Mary and your families, I remember Sally with such fondness. We would have good chats over the backyard fence. I'm so sorry for your loss. I will keep you all in my prayers. I wish all of you Happiness and good memories. Love, Madlyn Erdman

To the entire Hedges family, please accept my condolences on Sally's passing. She was such a wonderful woman - she will be missed. "Kathy Q" as she called me...

Dear Tom, Sarah, Nancy and Mary: I just want to extend my condolences to all of you. Sally was such a close friend to our family and Dad knew her since she was a baby. Your Mom had such a Cedar Rapids presence and will be missed by many. Her spunk, generosity and kindness were so much a part of your Mom. My parents were so happy when she became their neighbor, Dad said now we will have someone fun to have over for "visits". My sympathy and prayers goes out to all of you and your families.

Beautiful Lady, cherished Memories, Keep those close, blessed to have gotten to meet all of you. Peggy RN

Sorry, for you family members, and also for Jane and I, that such a beautiful, in all ways, person has left our lives. You were so fortunate to have her as Mother and Grand-Mother-- and we as our close friend of many years. We two 90 year olds will always remember her and will be looking to renew our friendship upon our joining her in the near future. Our love and best to all. Bill and Jane Bergman
