Ruth Mae Voelkel-Milner, 71, of Cedar Rapids died August 4, 2014 at St. Luke’s Hospital. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday, August 8, 2014 at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Per Ruth’s wishes following the service she will be cremated.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Bob Milner; children Jon Stepanek, Larry Stepanek, Darin (Alice) Stepanek, Steve Stepanek and Cheri Brumwell; sister Judy (Steve) Munns and a special companion, her dog Sammie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Glenn Voelkel.
Ruth Mae Voelkel-Milner was born April 25, 1943 in Millersburg, Iowa the daughter of Harold and Margaret Haldy Voelkel. Ruth worked for 19 years at Northbrook Manor Care Center as the Activities Director. She married Robert “Bob” Milner on June 17, 1995 in Cedar Rapids. Her favorite activities were traveling, crafting, cooking, baking, the beach, collecting sea shells, computer games, and spending time with her family. Ruth was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
