So sorry to hear of the passing of Dave, he will be missed by many. Dave was a great contributor in our community; impacting many. It's hard at this time of your loss to find the words to say that will relieve the loss you are feeling so reflect on his smile and the many many various times you seen that smile and the reasons he smiled, memories you'll always have and embrace.

I am sorry to hear about Dave passing. I always enjoyed working with Dave.

Dear Engle Family, My condolences to all of you and my thoughts and prayers are with you. I knew Dave when I worked for The Esco Group. I will always have fond memories of Dave, sitting in work meetings with him and cracking up at his jokes while watching him sip his ever-present Diet Coke. He definitely knew how to light up a room. So many stories and memories....all of them good ones. May God bless you and guide you through the difficult days ahead.

My deepest condolences to the Engle family. Dave was a truly genuine guy who will never be forgotten. Many fond memories playing golf together and his enthusiasm will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Our thoughts and prayers go to the Engle family during this very difficult time. Dave was a wonderful giving person and we were all blessed to have known him. Dave and I were at Linn-Mar and UNI together and my husband spent several nights around the campfire at Indian Princess's campouts with Dave. Dave's time here with us was way too short, but you can hold all those memories very close. Please know we are thinking of you. David and Linda Schultz

My most sincere sympathy to all of David's family--I especially remember him from church (Marion Christian) activities. His passing at such an early age makes one realize how precious our loved ones are. I pray your many loved filled memories will be of some comfort--hold them close--cherish them. Soncra (Cox) Knapp

Maureen and family; After converting to the Catholic faith in 1995, I had the good fortune of being paired with Dave as his "sponsor" into the Catholic faith in the fall of 1997. I most definitely grew more in my faith from getting to know Dave, as his faith was so strong. Dave was such a humble man. When I asked him where he worked, all he told me was that he worked at an electric company called ESCO. It wasn't until years later that I learned that he was the chairman. A few years later, when I got a wild idea to go skydiving, the first person I called to see if he would go with me was Dave, who 'jumped' at the chance. Dave lived life to the fullest and it is obvious from the turnout at the wake and all of the comments here that he impacted many, many lives. He will be missed. God Bless - Dan & Connie

My thoughts are with the Engle family today. We never know how long we are given to be on this planet, I believe Dave lived his time to the best of his ability and that his strength and character will live on thru his family and the vast number of people that he connected with in his time here. I don't believe that any one that has ever met Dave will ever forget his amazing energy and zest for life. Take Care!

Maureen, Dwayne and Dan and the entire Engle Family I am so Blessed to have known Dave and most importantly , Dave knowing the Lord. His support in business, generosity, and good times on the golf course will be remembered. I will keep your family uplifted , in my prayers and thoughts as you go through these times. Stay strong in your Faith. From the mountains of Colorado Drew Washburn

Melissa, Olivia, Brookelynne and Stella... we were so sorry to hear of your loss. We are saying prayers for you and your family and hope that you will find comfort surrounded by them in this difficult time. -Mike, Audra, Curt & Riley

Engle Family Prayers are with you and the family. Dave was a bright light that was always shining. He understood that friendships and being nice to others still meant something in this world. You always left happy and a better person after spending time with Dave. May God Bless you and your family during this time. He will be missed, but I know he is making people laugh and having a great time in his new home. Mike & Julie Gassmann

Dave will be missed by many. I spent many a day working with Dave in my 22 years with General Mills, playing golf and always enjoyed his company. My condolences to his family and friends. We will all miss him.

Maureen, Wayne, Shirley and family, My sincere sympathy to each of you. I feel blessed to have known Dave and to have experienced his energy, wisdom and compassion. I will never forget that twinkle in his eye as his mind began to race and he would start to share his thoughts on how to make a difference. He was a very special man who will be very missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Jim Ernst

My deepest condolences for your loss. You all are in my thoughts and prayers.

I was fortunate enough to work with Dave for several years. I've not met a more generous, sweet, and inspiring person. He was a mentor to me; constantly inspiring me with his words of advice and unwavering belief in me. I am a better person because of him. Thank you Dave for everything. My heartfelt condolences to you Maureen and family! God Bless!

Dear Maureen and the entire Engle Family, We were so sorry to hear of Dave's passing and wanted you to know you are in our thoughts and prayers at this very difficult time. Dave was a great guy and we were honored to know him. As you gather as a family, may the happy memories you have of times spent with Dave help to sustain you and give you peace. He will be missed by many for his warm smile and fun loving spirit. In Deepest Sympathy and Friendship, Herb and Mitzi Wamboldt

To the Whole Engle Family - Sorry to hear of Dave's passing. Dave and ESCO enabled me and my family to return to the great state of Iowa as the manager of the DM office of ESCO Automation. Those weekly meetings with Dave for the first two years were great to learn his values and what he wanted the company to be. Later when he had no time to come to DM for weeks, I knew how he would want things done. His customer relationship abilities amazed me and I worked hard to carry that same commitment. I am not able to come to either the visitation or funeral but I will be praying for all of you. I look forward to seeing Dave in heaven when I am also called home. Gary & Wanda Shaw

Maureen and family, so sorry and sad to hear about Dave. When you think of Dave, you just remember that great smile he had. Cherish all the great times you had with Dave, and we pray that you find comfort in all the good memories of him. He will be missed by so many people. Sending you thoughts and prayers at this very difficult time. Take care, Bev & Fred Timko

Deeply saddened with you all.

Maureen, Wayne and Shirley, Dan, Susie and Children: Our sincere sympathy to each of you. My memory's of Dave are many, when he came out of college to get into the electrical business (back in the day) he was always smiling, and fun to work with, always playing jokes and keeping all of us in a good mood. He will always be remembered by so many of us for his kind, thoughtful ways. May he be a peace and be in God's Kingdom. God's Blessing's, Jim and Judy Tucker

Maureen and family, I was saddened by the news of Dave's passing. Always upbeat, always positive, Dave always brought a smile to my face and heart. He will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you. God bless.

To the entire Engle family: Connie and I have been tripping down memory lane the last few days and have recalled hundreds of awesome memories of Dave. So many talents that he used to the max. Taken way to soon but he is in a better place now. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family to help you through this difficult time.

Maureen and family - my deepest sympathy at this difficult time. I knew Dave back in his UNI days when you two were first dating. He was always so much fun and just loved joking around and making us all laugh with his antics. He will be deeply missed by all, but especially by you and the kids. Keep his spirit alive with his memory.

Maureen, I'm so sorry for your loss. You and your family are in my thoughts.

Maureen and family, My heart sank upon hearing of Dave's passing. He was a good friend, always inspiring, and always had a smile for you. May God bless you at this difficult time.

Maureen, and family, Wayne, Shirley, Dan, Sue I feel for you in your time of loss. I had the great pleasure of being one of those mentored by Dave as he passed the baton of doing the residential work at ESCO and spent several nights under his study learning how to conduct the paperwork and also to sell to the customer what the needed. It was an honor to know him. After I went a different direction it didn't matter where I would see Dave he always had time to stop and talk. He truly was a great person.

To Maureen and family, Wayne and Shirley, Sue and Dan. Deb and I share our most heartfelt condolences with all of you. Dave and I worked together many years ago. He was always very fair and he was an inspiration. Dave provided me opportunities to excel when others wouldn't or didn't. He truly taught me a lot about how to positively live my life while at work and outside of it as well.

Gary & I are so sorry that Dave left us so soon. He will truly be missed by friends across the country. He was always good to us. His best saying was"Ya Buddy". He will be missed.

Dear Maureen and family, It is with sincere sympathy that I write this to you at this time of loss. Dave was a good and kind man. My first recollection of Dave was as a gymnast on the Linn Mar gymnastics team. He was a great gymnast and a good competitor in every sense of the word. A couple of years after that, as a high school senior at our state tournament, Dave handed one of my medals to me while he was a gymnast at UNI. It was years later that I saw him again with you, Maureen, at a St. Pius function, and of course at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. Your loss must be so great. Please be assured of our family's prayer support at this difficult time. May God bless you with His comfort and peace. Your friend in Christ, Deacon Dennis

Maureen,Dan and Janet, Sue,Wayne,Shirley and the entire family-my heart goes out to you and all who knew our Dave. I can still hear his giggle from way back in high school, and his generous heart. Dave always made me feel better, just by being in the same room. This world has lost one of the dearest people I knew, but Heaven has gained one awesome, laughable, loveable spirit. I am very thankful to have known him. Take good care, Mary

I was not priviledged to meet you and the kids. I have known Dave, his parents and his siblings for many years. To all I say: I loved this little man. God must have something else for him to do. He was a bright spot for everyone who knew him and please know that few people ever make such a mark on others. Be thankful for his life. Best Wishes to All. Harold Zink

Maureen and family, Wayne and Shirley, Sue and Dan: My heart goes out to you all. Having daughters just older and just younger who grew up with Dave, I can't imagine how difficult this time of bereavement must be. He gave so greatly in his young life. My deepest sympathy to all of you.

Maureen and family. I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Dave. I want to convey my deepest sympathies to you all. I had the privilege to know Dave from both business and the charities he supported. Most recently, however, it was through playing music with him. He will be missed by many. Please know that you are in my thoughts.

His spirit and laughter will never be forgotten. Keep the faith. The Worley Family - Blaine, Judy, Brock, Chad, Dane.

Maureen, Engle Family, and extended ESCO Group family....our deepest sympathies to you all. Dave was a good man who will never be forgotten. May you find peace and comfort knowing that he was loved by so many. Our family is thinking of you all.

Maureen, and the entire Engle family: We’re so sorry for the sadness you’re all enduring. Dave was an amazing mentor and friend. He had a special gift of raising people to a higher level than they were before he knew them. He believed in people, got involved in their lives, and became a game changer for so many of us…yet his humble nature would always point the credit in another’s direction. Words can’t describe the impact Dave had on my life. He will be dearly missed, but never forgotten. Chad and Shannon Boge and family.

Maureen and all the Engle family, I prayed for David every day he was in the hospital and I will pray for the entire family now that Dave is gone.I have known many caring loving people but none more so than Dave. So sorry you have to deal with this. To all the Engle Family: remember his smile and his laughter. He gave what he had; the best he knew how.

Maureen, and the entire Engle family: I cannot express in words the sadness I feel for all of you. Dave was a very special guy and one who understood that it was nice to be important but a heck of a lot more important to be nice. I feel so blessed to be his friend. He had an amazing effect on everyone he met and I've often reflected on my times with him. His humility, sense of Faith, ability to see the lighter side of life, and concern for others shone as brightly as the sun. I will always remember his example and smile thinking about those moments. Peace, Barry Boyer and family
