Ruth and family,
Our deepest sympathy on the loss of John. We are thinking of you during this difficult time. I have fond memories of working at Collins with John for many years. He would always look out for me and give words of wisdom and encouragement. An example is during my first International trip to London, he was in Brazil the same time and gave me a phone call from Brazil to make sure I wasn't having any problems. We are thankful to have known John as he was a very caring man and set an example for others to follow. May his memories comfort you.

Ruth and family,
My thoughts are with you. I have great memories of Mr. Birmbaum as one of my Boy Scout leaders and remember his kindness and the many times he drove us scouts to weekend camping events, longer canoeing excursions to the Boundary Waters or to usher at U. of Iowa football and basketball games. A kind man who had an impact on my life and all he touched.

Ruth & family, we are thinking of you at this difficult time and praying for comfort from your spiritual sources. We are thankful to have known you and John for these many years. The memories of the times together will remain with us. Special times include his 80th birthday celebration and an AZ visit.

Ruth and family, I am so sorry for your family's loss of John. I was privileged to have been invited to join the UNI chain crew and enjoyed 4 years working with him. He loved UNI football, the players and, especially, the coaches. As a former high school football official, the dedication he put into the relationship he had with his crew showed on the field. He was a gentle, caring man and I will remember him always. Godspeed, John

I worked for John for many years and he was the kindest boss anyone could want. He had a sense of humor and did not expect perfection. He was genuinely interested in the people around him.
