Ruth & family - we want to express our deepest sympathy of John's passing. We were unable to attend both the visitation and funeral due to other commitments. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family. We will miss John's sense of humor and upbeat personality - he was such a good man

Ruth and family, Our deepest sympathy on the loss of John. We are thinking of you during this difficult time. I have fond memories of working at Collins with John for many years. He would always look out for me and give words of wisdom and encouragement. An example is during my first International trip to London, he was in Brazil the same time and gave me a phone call from Brazil to make sure I wasn't having any problems. We are thankful to have known John as he was a very caring man and set an example for others to follow. May his memories comfort you.

To the Birnbaum Family: We've lost a tremendous gentleman, great family man, super supporter of activities and a great member of the Kennedy High School community! Deepest sympathy to all of you during these most difficult times. I'm sure glad I got to know Mr. Birnbaum over the many years associated with Kennedy High School! May God bless, Randy Krejci

Ruth and family, My thoughts are with you. I have great memories of Mr. Birmbaum as one of my Boy Scout leaders and remember his kindness and the many times he drove us scouts to weekend camping events, longer canoeing excursions to the Boundary Waters or to usher at U. of Iowa football and basketball games. A kind man who had an impact on my life and all he touched.

Ruth & family, we are thinking of you at this difficult time and praying for comfort from your spiritual sources. We are thankful to have known you and John for these many years. The memories of the times together will remain with us. Special times include his 80th birthday celebration and an AZ visit. I'm especially grateful to John for taking a chance on me as a supervisor at Collins and for his help and support over 50 years ago. John set a good example for all those who were fortunate enough to know him. The peace of Christ to all of you.

Ruth and family, Our sincere condolences in this time of loss for your family. We enjoyed our friendship with John both in Iowa and Arizona. He was a great person!

Ruth and family, I am so sorry for your family's loss of John. I was privileged to have been invited to join the UNI chain crew and enjoyed 4 years working with him. He loved UNI football, the players and, especially, the coaches. As a former high school football official, the dedication he put into the relationship he had with his crew showed on the field. He was a gentle, caring man and I will remember him always. Godspeed, John

Kay, Ruth, John and Tina, I am sorry to hear about Johns passing and know what a good man he was. I know he will be missed, but his spirit will continue on in each of you. Prayers are with you all. Scott Jessen

Dear Ruth and Family, "Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the Crown of Life." We are so thankful that John remained faithful to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ all of his life here on earth. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We were blessed to have spent so many winters with you in Arizona. Dan & Carolyn

Dear Ruth and Family, I am saddened to learn of John's passing and wish GOD'S richest blessing on all of you. I knew John very well from first meeting him at investment club many years ago.My wife and I often dined out with John and Ruth, when we lived in CR. He was a great fiend. Bill Schwitzer...

I worked for John for many years and he was the kindest boss anyone could want. He had a sense of humor and did not expect perfection. He was genuinely interested in the people around him. My husband and I offer our sincerest sympathy to Ruth and the family at the loss of this wonderful man. May God give you comfort.
