Donovan E. Yanda, 85, 3701 16th Ave SW died Sunday, March 13, 2005 at Mercy Medical Center following a long illness. Memorial Service: 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Inurnment: Oak Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Mike Gray of Valley View Baptist Church will officiate.
Surviving are three daughters, Donna Yanda and significant other Dale White of Springville, Dana Robinson and husband Paul of Mt. Vernon, and Julie Yanda of Cedar Rapids; three sons, Joseph Yanda of Sacramento, CA, Stephen Yanda and wife Dianne of Cedar Rapids, and Kenneth Yanda and wife Cindee of Ely; 17 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and several great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Anne in 2002 and a sister, Beatrice Holub.
Donovan was born February 4, 1920 in Iowa City the son of Edward Joseph and Carrie Vredenverg Yanda. He married Anne L. Long on May 10, 1942 in Kahoka, MO. Donovan was a truck driver all of his life, working for Wendling Quarries until his retirement in 1981. Donovan loved music, playing the clarinet, saxophone and the button accordion in swing bands.
A memorial fund has been established.
