Memorial
Edna O'Shannon, 81, of 300 Clinton St. in Palo died Wed. March 9, 2005 at Manor Care after a long illness. Edna donated her body to the University of Iowa for medical research. Inurnment will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Balk of Cedar Rapids. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Michael Adrienne Balk of Long Island, NY and Christina Jason Cline of Cedar Rapids, three great grandchildren, Liam, Zachary, Paige and many relatives in England. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Edna was born on Jan. 30, 1924 in Glasgow, Scotland, the daughter of Adam and Mabel Rich law. She married Elmer A. O'Shannon on Nov. 3, 1945 in Naples, Italy. He died in 1975. Edna was an expeditor at Rockwell-Collins and retired from there after several years of service. Edna enjoyed her family, friends and was proud to have served in the British Army during WWII. Memorial donations may be given to Hospice of Mercy in Edna's name.
