Linda L. Vanek, 57, of 3115 Woodland Dr. SW died Friday, Jan. 7, 2005 at her home after a long illness. Services at 3 PM on Tuesday at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories where friends may call after 2:30 PM on Tuesday. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two daughters, Kimberly Haines and Jodi Cranston, both of Cedar Rapids and a son, Chad and his wife, Carrie of Glendale, AZ., five brothers, Larry, Dick, Terry, Doug and Bruce and one sister, Brenda. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Jeremy, Joshua, Devon, Dylan and a friend, Dean. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Linda was born on Aug. 28, 1947 in Arlington, the daughter of Donald and Dorothy Astor Fliehler. She married James Vanek on June 17, 1965 and were later divorced. Linda was a bartender for many years at the Freeway Express and later at Tommy's. She was a member of HADTO, enjoyed playing pool and time spent with her many friends and family. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Linda's name.
