James B.Vernon, 74, of Dubuque, formerly of Marion died Monday, December 13, 2004 at his home of lung cancer. Services: 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Friends may call at the chapel one hour before the service. The Rev. Dennis Govier will officiate.
Born May 21, 1930 in Bartley, West Virginia to William L. and Lula Trent Vernon. He married Jereldine Leuenberger on September 2, 1979.
He is survived by his wife, Jereldine Vernon of Dubuque; two sons, James Jr. of Painesville, Ohio and Michael of Fort Washington, Wisconsin; two daughters, Barbara Vernon Ryan of Denver, Colorado and Chrystal Lamberto of Des Moines; two stepsons, Robert D. and wife Maureen Leuenberger and Rick D. and wife Teresa Leuenberger all of Cedar Rapids; ten grandchildren and four step-grandchildren, Heather Parbs and husband Mike of Urbana, Erica, Reece and Chelsea Leuenberger all of Cedar Rapids; and one great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Glenn and William; and a sister, Lucille.
He served in the Air Force for ten years. Jim was employed with H & W Motor Freight in Cedar Rapids and Dubuque, retiring in 1997. He attended the United Methodist Church in Hazel Green, Wisconsin.
