My deepest condolences to all of the family. Horst and Virginia have been a part of my life for as long as I can recall. They have always been there to help whenever asked, especially when we lost our sister and mother this past year. Horst's bright smile had not changed when I saw him last, even though it had been many years. I pray, with time, prayer and the love of family and friends, the pleasant memories will help to ease your sorrow. My love, Jayne

Please accept my condolences at the death of your father. Although inevitable, it is sad when a man has to say goodbye to his dad. I am sure that Mr. Zahn was proud of how his son has served the community. Scott Benson

The Koenighain family wish to express our condolences for your loss. We fondly remember being referred to as "Red and Red's wife", saying "Howdy neighbor", and discussing the daily events. Jim remembers how nice it was when the street was closed off and we enjoyed all the traffic having to turn around at the street closed sign. Horst asking the drivers if they could read.Karen can remember the first time meeting the "guy down the street" who just had to come see what the new neighbor was digging up in the back yard. We will miss the "one man neighborhood watch".

Dear Virginia and family, I recently heard of Horst's passing, and wish to send my condolences. I used to live behind you on "D" Avenue several years ago, and always chatted and okay, competed with Horst when growing tomatoes. I still think of him when I plant in the spring, and smile when I get great tomatoes with little effort compared to Horst anyway. He made a lasting impression on me, and I know you will miss him deeply. My thoughts are with you. Sincerely, Michelle

Dave and to all your family, I am Sorry for your loss. I had never had the chance to meet Horst but I can say this. Many of a father's qualities are passed on to his son. I went to Mount Mercy with Dave and was in the Biology club as well. In Short Dave is a heck of a nice guy and has a smile for all he meets. Now see what a fine service he is doing for the community. A strong base of life lesions passed to a son and other good qualities show through from a father in the actions of a son. My thoughts are with you, Richard McDonald
