Donald Wayne Yarrington, 68, of 5005 Broadview Drive SE, died at home on Wednesday, March 23, 2005 due to complications of leukemia. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories by the Rev. Robin Kash of First Presbyterian Church. Burial: West View Cemetery, La Porte City. Friends may call at Turner West Funeral Home Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. and after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel. Turner West Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife Sandra; a daughter, Suzanne and husband Lt. Col. Michael Coleman and their children, Sarah Beth and Marcus, all of Manassas, VA; a brother Marvin and JoAnn Yarrington of La Porte City; a sister Florene and Frank Hiffernan of Waterloo; his mother-in-law, Miriam Lamb of Cedar Rapids; a brother-in-law, Robert and Katherine Lamb of Davenport; and a niece Sarah Lamb.

Don was born September 4, 1936 in Jessup to Albert and Mabel Bookmeier Yarrington. He attended the Unversity of Iowa where he sang with the University Choir. He married Sandra K. Lamb in La Porte City on February 15, 1958. Don was a K Mart Department Store manager and also served as a District Manager for a total of 42 years, and continued in management for 2 years with Wal Mart and 3 years with Kohls.

Don was an Army veteran, and a member of First Presbyterian Church. He was an avid Hawkeye sports fan, and a fan of the Green Bay Packers. He loved golfing, boating, and playing bridge, but his #1 interest was his family, especially his grandchildren.
