Francis R. Schlicht, 78, of Cedar Rapids, died January 30, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. The Rev. David Beckman of St. Matthew Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will take place at Reinbeck Cemetery.

Survivors include his children, Michael Schlicht, Barb (Russ) Schlicht all of Cedar Rapids, Annette Schlicht of Champaign, IL and Chris Schlicht of Cedar Rapids; Mark (Gail) Stark, Cathleen (Mike Lorimer) Wood all of Cedar Rapids, Mari (Steve) Hamilton of Anamosa, Ruth Olive of Cedar Rapids and Betty (Brad) Hohenstein of Sidney, OH; 12 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; as well as many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Patricia and his brothers Ralph and Clair.

Francis was born November 6, 1933 in Reinbeck, IA the son of Herman and Vera Schlicht. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Carolyn Ludley in August of 1956 and was later divorced. He then married Patricia A. Stark on December 29, 1972. She preceded him in death on December 30, 2011. Francis was employed as a machinist for many years.

Francis will forever be remembered as a caring and loving father and grandfather. He enjoyed sports, especially the Chicago Cubs and Bulls.

He will be greatly missed.
