Harold L. Main, 84, a longtime resident of Hiawatha died Monday January 23, 2012 at St. Lukes Hospital after a long illness. Services 1:00 PM on Friday at the
Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Rev. Timothy Miller will officiate. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friend may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 8 PM on Thursday.
Survivors include a daughter, Laurie Whightsil of Hiawatha; two sons, Gordon (Kathy Sue) of Independence and Tom of Lansing, Michigan; a sister Helen (Dale) Swanson of Ayrshire and two brothers, Bernard (Eleanor)of Madison, Wisconsin and Norman (Arlene) of Ryan. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and several nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his parents, his two wives, twin brother Gerald, sister-in-law Gladys, brother-in-law George Liddle and his mother-in-law Elmira Liddle.
Harold was born on May 6, 1927 in Troy mills, the son of Richard and Minnie Patterson main. He married Anna Mae Weaver in August of 1951 in Cedar Rapids. She died in 1960. He later married Geraldine Liddle in September of 1963 in Hiawatha. She died in 2002. Harold was a school bus driver for the Cedar Rapids Community School District for over 19 years, retiring in 1992.
He was a member of the Teamsters Union. He enjoyed watching the Hawkeyes, Cubs, sight seeing, watching western movies and especially the time spent with his beloved family.
