Memorial

Betty M. Bubon, 85 of Cedar Rapids passed away January 17, 2012 at the Highland Ridge Care Center in Williamsburg, Iowa after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. Memorial services will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, January 20, 2012 at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Pastor Kirk Statler will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Private inurnment will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Betty is survived by son Dan Bubon and wife Linda of Cedar Rapids, daughter Amy Bubon of Yorba Linda, California and her beloved grandson C.J. Bubon of Cedar Rapids.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband Andy, sister Dorothy Anderson and brother Dannie Davis.

Betty was born May 20th, 1926 in Lovilla, Iowa to the late Floyd and Nellie Davis. After graduating from Lovilla H.S. she moved to Des Moines where she met Andy Bubon. Her and Andy were married on September 17, 1946 and enjoyed 54 years of marriage. They began their lives together in Olin, Iowa where they resided until 1957. They moved to Cedar Rapids (Shueyville) where her husband continued his teaching and coaching career in the College Community School District. She was a loving mother and spent the majority of her time caring for her family.

Betty was kind and generous to all. She had many friends whom she looked forward to having coffee with each day through the years. Betty also enjoyed baking and tending to her flower gardens. Becoming a grandmother gave her the greatest joy later in life. Those who knew her will miss her great smile. In addition, Betty had a loving extended family at Highland Ridge Care Center in Williamsburg for which her family is so grateful.

A memorial fund has been established in Betty’s honor.
