Travis William Hoekstra, 30, a resident of Davenport, Iowa, formerly of Cedar Rapids, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2012, in his home. There will be a service to remember Travis’ life at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories with burial to immediately follow the service in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation is planned for 4:30 – 6:30 pm on Monday, January 9, 2012

Travis is survived by his parents, Sandy (Scott) Ashley and Bill (Jan) Hoekstra, all of Cedar Rapids; sister, Alyssa and brother, Trent; grandmother, Helen Hoekstra of Richland, Iowa; uncle, Tom Hoekstra of Richland, Iowa; and aunt, Terri Olson and family of San Diego, California. Also surviving are uncles R. J. Ashley and David Ashley and families, and aunt Susan Stevenson. He is also survived by his beloved dogs, Floyd and Marley.

Travis was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frieda and John Wilmoth and Claire (Pudge) Hoekstra.

Travis Hoekstra was born November 5, 1981 in Iowa City, Iowa the proud son of Bill and Sandy (Wilmoth) Hoekstra. He attended Jefferson High School and received his AA degree from Kirkwood Community College. Travis enjoyed cooking and was working as a chef. He enjoyed music, movies, documentaries, reading, and spending time with his dogs. He loved and was deeply loved by his family.
