Dear Fran and family, We are so sorry to hear of your loss. Gene was a kind and generous man, and we know he will be missed. We feel badly that we are unable to come to the wake service and funeral. We are celebrating our 45th Wedding Anniversary by going on a Mississipppi Riverboat cruise from Davenport to Dubuque and back, and will leave this afternoon, not returning until Monday night. He was an amazing man who touched many peoples life's.I was very privileged to have grown up next door to you the O'Briens,I have such great memories of picnics on the 4th of July, water fights and games of basketball at night.Gene was like a second dad to me. He had many talents. I remember is workroom down your basement and the grandfather clock that he made. I think of you all often.
