Sam Travagiakis, 88, of Cedar Rapids died Saturday, August 7, 2010 at Northbrook Manor, Cedar Rapids.

Funeral Service: 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with Rev. Dorothy Gerr officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7 pm Monday at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife, Edith; Daughter, Lisa Kennedy (Christopher) of Marion; Son, Michael Travagiakis (Gail) of Oregon; 7 grandchildren, AmberLynn, Eric, Amy, Terence, Ryan, Kyle, Michalie and 1 great grandchild, Rexton; Sisters, Irene Minor of Cedar Rapids, Victoria Mestas of Cornville, AZ, Florence Getlin of Anadarko, OK.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Steven, Sister, Elaine Butters, Brothers, George and Tony.

Sam Travagiakis was born January 19, 1922 in Cherokee, IA the son of James & Edna (Hill) Travagiakis. On January 7, 1953 he married Edith Mae Parry. Sam was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, taxidermy, leatherwork, making walking canes and hat racks. Sam was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers #373 and was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes.
