Richard Allen “Dick” Polton,87, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, March 16, 2010, in St. Luke's Hospital. Memorial services with Masonic Rites will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday in St. James United Methodist Church. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include two sons William “Bill” Polton and wife Cherri of Cedar Rapids, and Steven Polton and wife Stacey of Columbia, Missouri, a daughter Gail Johnson of Lucerne, California, a brother Guy Polton and wife Joyce of Cedar Rapids, six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins, and his special friend Mary Koopman. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a daughter Rebecca “Becky” Polton, three sisters Jean, Mildred, and Becky, and a brother Don.
Dick was born December 22, 1922, in Columbus City, Iowa to Joseph and Lois Troxel Polton. He married Betty Yule on November 7, 1948 in Marshalltown, Iowa. She died in 2002. He was a US Army Veteran. He was a member of St. James United Methodist Church, Mt. Hermon Masonic Lodge, and a Halleluiah Acres Health Minister.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
