Melania “Millie” Eleanor Krapfl, 91, of Cedar Rapids passed away on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at the Linn Manor Care Center, Marion. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at All Saints Catholic Church. Rev. David O’Connor will officiate with burial in St. John’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home with a vigil and rosary service starting at 6:00 PM. Additional visitation time will be one hour before Funeral Mass at the church on Tuesday.

Survivors include her daughter Judith Palmer of Cedar Rapids; daughter-in-law Kim Krapfl of Marion; four grandchildren, Michael, Julie, Stephanie and David Krapfl; a great grandson Draven; brother LaVerne (Ida) Sabers of Earlville; and two sisters Alvina Ries and Velma Frericks both of Dyersville.

She was preceded in death by her husband Walter, parents, son Kenneth, three brothers, and four sisters.

Millie was born November 16, 1918 in Bloomington, WI, the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Crubel) Sabers. She married Walter C. Krapfl on April 28, 1948 in New Vienna, IA. Walter passed away on December 9, 1998. She did house work for 22 years and worked for prominent people of Cedar Rapids and served President Hoover when he came to Cedar Rapids. She then worked as a machinist at Rockwell Collins for 11 years.
She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, St. Anne’s Circle, and her Catholic faith was very important to her.

Millie was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She enjoyed sewing, and was a good cook but always said it was a God given talent.
