Our love and thoughts and sympathy go out to Helen and to Jim's family in Missouri. Jim, was one of the first people I met when I started singing. Not only did my whole family think he was great, but my dad and mom thought no one could sing as good Jim. Jim, Jim Davis and Dean Lake carried me through many times - as I was only 14. He was an encourager, He was always a gentlemen and I don't believe he ever met a stranger. Thanks for all the wonderful memories, for being a "big brother" when a girl needed one. May you rest peacefully in the Savior's loving arms. Love You, Till we meet again and play together in that "Angel Band" God Bless Ric and Lynette Graves

It is not too often that our business allows us to meet new people who actually become good friends. Jim was one of those few. He always welcomed me and my co-workers with a smile and an offer to play golf. He really was a bright spot even on the tough days. It was my honor to have known Jim and spent some business and fun times with him. Please accept my deepest sympathy.

I remember the day you let me take your hand and show the whole world...I was five! You were the one that got the first dance when I was sixteen. You were the one that sang the special song when I graduated from high school. You were my daddys best friend! Every year for 30 years you sent me a Christmas card! You were there for us when daddy died! I remember the night you called and asked to date my mom....how cool was that! You were there when Daniel graduated from high school! I remember the night you called and asked to have my permission to marry my mom.....how cool is that! I remember the day you came to my house just to jam! You were there the day Tony and Jessica got married! I remember the day when mom said how lucky she was to find happiness again! I remember the day I asked.....can I call you Dad...you told me it would be an honor! I will never forget the way you would walk into a room with your big hillbilly smile! I have loved you all my life! And you will always have a special place in my heart! You may be gone.....but I will never forget! R.I.P. my other dad, Jim!

Our prayers and thoughts are with all of you gathered in Iowa to celebrate Jimmy's life. I am sorry we cannot be there. He was special to all of his cousins and Aunt and Uncle in Georgia. I have fun memories of him coming into Grandma and Grandpa Bush's, when I was there visiting, after he and Bill had been frog leg hunting, out with friends, playing baseball or on some other adventure. He would share his tales of what he had been doing. He was my "Big" cousin who knew how to enjoy life. When I was in about 1st grade he drove to Houston to visit us,(we were living in Houston then); I remember having badmitton matches. A first grader was not beneath him. Jimmy reminded me of his Mom and Dad and their warm and welcoming ways. I appreciated how he looked after them as their health declined and also helped Aunt Polly as she got older. How good it is to think that he is with them now. May God give you each comfort as only He can in these days of adjustment. " He(God)is near to the brokenhearted." Psalm 34:18a "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." Psalm 46:1 " Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I shall rescue you and you will honor me." I was Jim's tax preparer for the last two years. Both years, Jim reliably called me at the beginning of March to let me know when he needed an appointment. Too much time had gone by this year, and I somehow knew something had happened. I really enjoyed working with Jim and I will sincerely miss his smile. My condolences to everyone who cared about Jim; please know that he had an effect on this world.

Anyone who knew Jim knows how many lives he touched. I guess our pal Danny needed a golf partner. One time on the 8th green at Marengo Jim made me laugh so hard I shot beer out my nose. I`ll always remember what I called "Duttonisms", I don`t know where he came up with some of those one-liners and all those funny stories but I sure am glad I got to share so much time with Jim on the golf course.More people like Jim is exactly what this world needs.
