Condolences to the family. Flash back 40 years, we sure had great times growing up. You always think your friends have the coolest parents. I don't remember Teddy ever yelling at us, and we weren't perfect kids. Then when the folks are getting older, the tables are turned and they count on us. I hear it from alot of my older customers, the golden years aren't so golden. God Bless

Cousins Sue and Mary, and families. I am sorry for your loss. I remember Aunt Teddy fondly as a vivacious, humorous, caring person. When we were growing up, Aunt Teddy's lively personality enhanced each family get together. I have never known anyone better at the home version of the password game. I have missed Aunt Teddy's outgoing nature over the past years due to her condition, but my memories will be of the good times. A uniquely positive humanity has always been in her soul.

I couldn’t have asked for a better Aunt. I can scarcely recall an event, in school or out of it, that she was not present at. She was warm, friendly and comforting with hugs all around and laugh or a smile. She had a witty sense of humor and was always thinking of others. A fabulous cook, she never failed to produce pfefferneusse cookies for me at Christmas . . . or frosted molasses cookies for gramps . . . all the special little touches that let us know she was thinking of us. I have so many fond memories, and every single one is positive. She was a ray of sunshine, and so much a part of my life, from before I could form a solid memory, to all the memories I have of her now.

My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. I think fondly of your mom and singing in the choir at Kenwood Park. She was a lovely person and will be missed. With sympathy, Don Quijano

Growing up with my sister,Teddy, was a fun, exciting adventure, especially when we were visiting our grandparents on the farm. The only argument I can remember that we had was whose turn it was to turn off the bed lamp when we slept together for 5 years. I was very proud of her in high school because she was first-chair clarinet, sang in many groups including a mixed quartet, and was valedictorian of her class. What a challenge it was to try to follow in her footsteps! When I was single and living alone in Waverly, she frequently invited me to spend the week end with her and Jim. I remember many New Year's Eves and Days with them. When I moved to Cedar Rapids to begin a new job, I stayed at their house until I found an apt. After I married and began a family, she took care of Nancy when I went to the hospital to have Randy, and she came over and stayed with Nancy and Randy until my folks got here when I had Karen. She was a wonderful aunt, and my children have many fond memories of her. She was an excellent cook, and the Thanksgiving family dinners she made were so delicious! I also remember the wrapped dill pickles and yummy salads she brought to our Christmas dinners. Teddy was a devoted daughter showing TLC to our Dad after Mom died and continuing her care until he left us. We are so grateful that she handled all his financial affairs. Her daughters are a shining example of what a wonderful mother she was. I am thankful for over 70 years of happy memories with my dear sister, Teddy. With much sympathy and love to Sue, Mary and all the family. Her "little" sister, Janice (She called me 'shorty' because she was an inch taller than I.)

DA and I both knew Teddy from early school days in Fayette. I enjoyed Sunday School with her and always remember how welcome we were at her home where her Mother made delicious doughnuts for us. Teddy and I shared top honors in our high school graduating class of '47. Teddy attended our class reunion August 1,2009. She will be greatly missed at our next. Condolences to her family. I remember how knowledgeable Teddy was about everything Kennedy H.S. and how she helped a new teacher learn the ropes. Thank you, Teddy.

My thoughts and prayers are with your family during this difficult time. I'll really miss Teddy. I still have the pillow she made special for me when I graduated from Kennedy....and I still sit at night with the afghan she made me with all the colors of a rainbow. She was a special lady. I sure hope she will be one of my angels guiding me from heaven!

Mary, Sue and Families: I sent a few memories the old fashioned way; you should receive them in the Monday mail. I'm so glad that I was able to be with Aunt Teddy in mid-September at Karen's wedding, but do wish that I could also be at the service. Know that my thoughts will be in Cedar Rapids on Monday. Much love, Cousin Cindy

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family today. I worked with Teddy and she was so efficient.. and kind. She was especially a good friend to my late husband. And as luck would have it, I was reading an old diary of his last week and he mentioned how much he enjoyed Teddy. He told of how she had nearly run to his classroom to give him some good news. He laughingly said, Teddy found joy out of my happiness like no one I have even known. I think that is true...she shared many happy moments with us all.
