Helen M. Laun, 80, of Lexington, KY, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died November 6, 2009 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky following a short illness. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM, on Wednesday, November 11, 2009, at First Lutheran Church, where the family requests that friends call after 12:00 PM on Wednesday for a light reception prior to the funeral service. Rev. Dr. Kay Slocum will officiate. Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 7:00PM on Tuesday, November 10, 2009, at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Entombment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Helen Mackay Laun was born March 8, 1929 the beloved daughter of Robert and Marie (Kohler) Mackay. She was united in marriage to Walter F. Laun, Jr. on July 26, 1952 in Chicago, Illinois. She was employed as a legal secretary in Chicago, Utica, NY, and Cedar Rapids. She later became a Realtor and a member of the Cedar Rapids Board of Realtors. In the 1960’s she was a City Supervisor for Welcome Wagon, Int. and was active in the Cedar Rapids Community Theatre, performing in the annual Follies. She continued supporting the works of community theatre for many years, and attended many performances. She was a longtime member of Elmcrest Country Club and First Lutheran Church. Helen will forever be remembered for her lively personality; bringing laughter and joy to all who knew her. She lived life to the fullest and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Helen is survived by her daughter Deborah Laun and son-in law Walter “Dutch” Kelderman. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Walter.
