Memorial

Dorane L. Alatalo, 88, of Evergreen Estates died there on Friday Nov. 6, 2009 after a short illness. Graveside services at 1:00 PM on Monday at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 2 to 4 PM on Sunday.

Survivors include a son, Donald (Connie) of Cedar Rapids and a daughter, Cathy (Joey) Welton of Robins. She is also survived by six grandchildren, David, Richard, William, Brian, Brad and Leslie and nine great grandchildren, Rich, Tom, John, Mark, Crystal, Cassondra, Dylan, Hudson and Greyson. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Richard and two sisters, Cleo and Lois.

Dorane was born on March 13, 1921 in Frederick, South Dakota, the daughter of Glenn and Armeline Tatro Durkee. She married Raymond J. Alatalo on February 9, 1940 in Frederick, South Dakota. He died in 2007. Dorane worked at Mercy Hospital and later at Collins Radio for several years. She enjoyed embroidery, cooking and especially time spent with her friends and beloved family.

Memorial donation may be given to Mercy Hospice in Dorane’s name.
