Doris M. Olson, 81, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, October 25, 2009 at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House, Hiawatha following a short battle with cancer.

Funeral service will be held at 9:00 am Thursday, October 29th at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with Chaplain Christine Wagner-Hecht officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4-7 pm at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Survivors include her children, Patti (Richard) Terry of Glenwood, IA, Michael (Gloria) Olson of Cedar Rapids, Lisa (Kent) Bowden of Cedar Rapids, Lorri (Joe) Hutchcroft of Hiawatha & Stacey (Kevin) Bowden of Cedar Rapids; Stepson, Tom (Norma) Olson of Cedar Rapids; Brother, James Smittkamp of Cedar Rapids; Grandchildren, Megan, Brooke, Joel, Kevin, Ami, Cara, Ian, Kayne, Justin, Molly, Andrea, Olivia, Will, Kate, Avery & Bobbi Ann. Also surviving are 6 great grandchildren.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sisters and 3 brothers.

Doris Marie Smittkamp was born December 7, 1927 in Vinton, IA the daughter of Carl & LeOra (Fielman) Smittkamp. She married Emil E. Olson on June 8, 1952 in Nashua, IA. He died in 1977. Doris loved bowling, movies and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and beloved dog, Mitzi.
