Memorial

Jeanette Cecil, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, October 20, 2009, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Inurnment: Hollansburg Cemetery, Hollansburg, OH. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.

Survivors include children, Col. David (Helen) Sarver of Spokane, WA, Michael (Margi) Sarver of Newport Coast, CA, and Carol Trask of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Karen Via of Marathon, WI; and five grandchildren, Robert and Megan Sarver, Michael, Kelly and Ian Trask; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Edith Irelan; a brother, Richard Irelan; and sister, Shirley Long.

Jeanette was born October 26, 1931 at home in Hollansburg, OH. Although she only had a high school education, she rose to be the Vice President of Trust at Key Bank in Dayton, OH, retiring in 1996. Jeanette was an avid reader, sometimes reading several books a week. She belonged to several card groups and the Red Hat Society. She loved traveling throughout the United States and Europe, especially to visit with her children and grandchildren. In recent years, she volunteered at Mercy Medical Center.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.
