I had the wonderful opportunity to work with Stan between '83 and '89. He taught me so much and it was such a pleasure being part of the same team. Our sympathy to your family. Stan touched so many people over the years; his extended 'family' is a large one. Stan, I will miss you.

The fifteen years I worked with Stan were the most enjoyable of my professional life. We were a small group of professionals, but also an extended family. In that respect Stan was so much more than just a co-worker. No one loved his family more than Stan. We spent many days on the road together, where I saw him earn the Traveling Traveler's Trophy almost every year. We laughed our way through all of the problems and adversity. I learned many life lessons from him. Thank you Stan for everything.

Stan "adopted" me when I first moved to Cedar Rapids in 1983. I shall never forget that kindness, or the great times we had dancing until we dropped! "Go, Johnny, Go" in heaven, Stan, and bless your family still on earth.

The years I took care of Stanley @ Manor Care were a great joy to me. We would always crack jokes with each other & to him I was the "rose killer". Wenda please know that my thoughts & prayers are with you & your family. Stan was a great man & will be greatly missed by those who were blessed to know him. Stanley now maybe your Cubs will win a series & you can bless my next rose plant anytime you see fit.. God bless & good bye my friend.

I'm sorry I will not be able to pay my respects in person, Mr. James. I sure had a lot of fun playing with your sons on Meadowbrook Drive all those years ago. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

I had the pleasure of knowing Stan for the past 2 years working at ManorCare. The time I spent with Stan whether it was during activities or in the halls discussing the latest about the Cubs or the Hawkeyes is time that I will remember fondly. Stan told great stories and I was privileged enough to hear lots of them. Whether it was about his family, friends, or his love of roses I really felt that I got to know a lot about Stan and will sorely miss him.

My condolences to the family. I think the last time I saw Stan was judging with him at a rose show in Davenport. He was a great friend and a great rosarian. He will be missed.

Stan entered my life when he worked for Rockwell International (Collins) a couple of years in the 70's and/or 80's. Despite his age, he was a sofball pitcher we needed at the time. (Some comments about his age caused me to refer to him as Methusalah which always made him roar and smile from ear to ear. He was always younger than his years.) Though older than most of us at Rockwell, his enthusium for life put most of use to shame long before he moved on. Then when he went back to that insurance company, he roped me in to the coaching job for it's sponsored team when he did not feel commfortable trying to manage that. I can't remember all the team names we played for , perhaps El Veiw Construction, Aims, Equifax and maybe a few of the others of his company names, but the names never matter, but the comraderie mattereed the most. We had so much fun winning and losing with the variety of players from his companys that played each year. It was a grand experience through the end. I miss the Stan of those days and salute the Stan gone on. All I can remember is "Moore, Beer, James" in the venaculer of the line up of those days.

We just heard of Stan's passing. How we missed it in the paper must be a sign of our age. We certainly would have been to the services had we known earlier. Knowing that Stan is not suffering any longer is of some relief. Our thoughts an prayers are with you and your family.

No one engaged you or challenged you like Stan James. I had the privilege to call him my friend since 1984. From fun at the Dog Races, to analyzing how a piece of software should work, you could count on Stan to guide you in the right direction. Even if that meant staying up on the blackboard discussing it until 4AM. His infectious laugh and smile will never be forgotten. My thoughts are prayers to Wenda and her family. I missed a lot of opportunities to contact Stan in the last few years, which I now truly regret.

I am writing to let you know that all the rose society members admired the skill that Stan had growing and judging roses. We always were welcome by Stan when we had a rose meeting at your home. Glad that Stan was able to judge the rose show in September at the Noelridge Greenhouse. Many rose growers in the Central District of the American Rose Society (states of Missouri,Nebraska,Kansas, and Iowa) knew of Stan's skills with roses and judging. He will be missed and are sorry to hear of his death. I noticed the improvement he showed in his health and mobility when I saw him at Noelridge. We enjoyed the stories he could tell about friends and the sports he enjoyed. John Slusher Friend and fellow rose grower

Wenda and family, Stan and I worked together for 10 years and were friends for more than 30. He was the nicest, smartest, funniest, and most energetic person I've ever known. I have many fond memories of our times together. Although gone from our world, Stan will live on in our hearts and minds, as he left a little bit of himself with all of us that he touched.

The James Family would like to thank everyone for their kind words of condolence and rememberance. It's been a comfort to hear from so many friends - old and new. We would like to extend a special thank you to all the staff of Manor Care. You guys are amazing! We could not have asked for a better group of people to care for Stan in his home away from home. Thank you also to St. Luke's Hospice for your kindness and understanding during such a difficult time. And to Cedar Memorial, we are extremely impressed and grateful for all the help and care given us by Nancy and Ralph who guided us through this painful transition of our lives.

Our sincere sympathy goes out to Wenda, Wes, Steve and the entire James Family. I have known Stan since 1969 and worked with him until 1979. He and I were part of the original EMSS team. Stan was always fun to work with and he made any problem seem like it was solveable with the proper application of logic. It is good to know he learned to enjoy his roses and golfing. Stan is a great Christian man who is now with God in Heaven. We will all miss you Stan. Ron & Phyllis Aldrich
