Memorial

Stanley Russell James, 71, of 4101 Carpenter Rd. NE, died Thursday, October 15, 2009, in St. Luke’s Hospital. Services will be held at 3 PM Saturday in Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Entombment in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years Wenda, two sons Westan (Carolyn) James of Cedar Rapids, and Steven (Katie) James of Argyle, Iowa, a sister Mary Ann Meyer of Hiawatha, and five grandchildren, Tristan, Morgan, Taliesyn, Liam, and Rowan, a niece Laurie, and nephews Barry, Chris, and Romey.

Stanley was born July 1, 1938 in Cedar Rapids to William and Ruth McCullough James. He was a software engineer for CGI Inc from 1971 to 2005 when he retired. He had also taught Math and Science at Roosevelt Jr. High in Cedar Rapids, and Burlington, Iowa Jr. High, and taught data processing at Kirkwood. He was a member and past president of the Linn County Rose Society. He loved to golf and was an avid gardener. He also enjoyed softball, bowling, dancing, and popcorn. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Chicago Cubs Fan. He loved spending time with his family. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
