Anna Grace Walker, age 92, died peacefully at home on Monday, October 12, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer. Services: 11:00 A.M. Friday at St. James United Methodist Church, where friends may call after 10:00 a.m. The Rev. Beth Straw will officiate. Burial: North Walker Cemetery in Sperry, Iowa. Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Anne was born August 26, 1917, in the town of Little York, IL, to the late John Clay Bruner and Lois K. Cordell Bruner. She attended rural schools in Illinois, Biggsville High School, and graduated from Wappello High School in Iowa. She graduated from Western Illinois State Teacher College in Macomb, Illinois with honors. She married Dwight McAllister Walker on May 24, 1942, and was a devoted and caring wife until his death in September of 1990.
Anne taught school many years and later was employed by Link Belt-Speeder for 29 years before retiring. She was an active member of St. James United Methodist church serving on the board, and teaching Sunday School. She was active with the U.M.W and Silver Club.
Anne was a well loved and faithful servant of our Lord and a dedicated member of St. James United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She has made a tremendous impact in the lives of many people that will truly be recognized into eternity.
Anne is survived by her son, Richard Walker of Marion, her daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Joseph McCollum, Jacksonville, FL; two grandchildren, Melissa Hadden and husband, Moo Hadden of Jacksonville, FL, Matthew J. McCollum and wife Ashley of St Johns, FL; two great-grandsons, Jackson and Grayson Hadden, Jacksonville, FL; sister, Betty Moore of Lexington, KY; brother, William Bruner and wife, Shirley of Moberly, Missouri. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Anne is preceded by a brother, Jim Bruner, a sister in law, Florence, a sister, Ida Johnson, brothers in law, Verlin Johnson and Rev. John K. Moore.

Memorials may be made to St. James United Methodist Church or Discovery Living.
The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers of Mercy Hospice for all of their care and support of Anne over the past months.
