October 8, 2009 Peggy- (Barb and Jim) Thanks for the call yesterday morning at 7:30 a.m. We certainly have been on edge with mixed emotions and thoughts of Aunt Markey ever since. We appreciate your good care and efforts on her behalf over many years and are glad that she had you near. We know it was very trying and lots of hard work for you at times. It was 20 years ago this year that Aunt Markey traveled with our family and her sister, Ben's mother, Katherine, to Egypt for 2 weeks in March. Thereafter, she joined us and Katherine for 2 weeks in Barbadous.....March 1990, I think. Aunt Markey joined us at The Greenbrier Hotel in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, for Thanksgiving, earlier this decade, and loved the place. She dreamed of coming back in springtime to see all the flowers blooming. And, I believe it was in 2003 that Aunt Markey spent Thanksgiving in Williamsburg, Virginia, with us and Sandy's parents. She joined us several times in Minnesota at the old Garmer lake property on West Battle Lake and always loved it. How we regret that she missed seeing our new lake home, under construction now, on this same property, and cruising on our new pontoon, which she would have thought was the bee's knees. We will always remember her there.....and miss her. It was nice that Aunt Markey could be with us for her sister's, Katherine's, services in November, 1999, in Racine, Wisconsin. I note that Katherine's 100th birthday would have been this coming Sunday, Oct. 11. There seemed to be great admiration between these two sisters....the youngest sister and the oldest sibling in the Lubbock Family. Our deepest sympathy to you, step-children, on the loss of your step-mother, who we affectionately know as Aunt Markey. Sandy and Ben Garmer Milwaukee, Wisconsin
