Very sorry to hear about Mike's passing. Played a lot of golf with Mike. A real class person, and he will be missed. Doug

Our hearts go out to the family and friends of Mike and Peggy. I will always remember his "near legend" status as a golfer at Washington, Iowa High School and also in college at NMSU in Kirksville, MO. I followed his golfing success at both. Cherish the memories----I am sure there are lots of them. Best Regards, Rick Lampkin Moline, Illinois 1969 WHS Grad 1973 NMSU Grad

Peggy and family. My heart goes out to you during this most difficult time. Peggy - I worked at Rockwell with you in the early 80's (my maiden name was Sobolik). Cancer took my 52 year old husband away this Valentine's Day. Just ask God for lots of guidance, peace and strength. He will see you through this difficult time. God bless you all.

To the Family of Mike Brake: I grew up with Mike in Mt. Pleasant until he moved to Washington and played High School Golf against him then. We were childhood friends and playmates and I am sorry he left so soon. He was a very fine golfer and I am sure a fine man. I am so sorry for your loss. I am certain that God has a course in Heaven that he will be playing. Michael Young Lexington, Virginia

Peggy, I am very sorry for the loss of Mike. I don't know if you remember me but I helped out a little after the 2008 flood took the Copy Shop. Mike and I got to be close friends. He visited me several times at my new office to sometimes just chat about anything. One time he stopped by to tell me about his cancer. The last time he stopped he told me of a new venture that he would like to get started on. That's Mike! I am very proud that we became friends. I will miss Mike. Lee Toomsen

Our sympathy to the family. We were golfing friends of Mike's parents during the 60's. I think of Ruth so often as she was the first person we know to have breast cancer. I am being treated for the same, now for the second time. How we admired Mike's prowess on the golf course and how proud Ruth and Eldon were of him. No more bogies or bunkers for Mike - in Heaven every-thing is perfect.

Peggy, Dina, and Aron, We're so sorry to hear about Mike's passing. I have fond childhood memories of him popping us popcorn on Friday nights and always having something to chuckle about (usually something we'd done!). Even as a little girl I could tell that he was a kind man, but also a man to be respected. We're sending our hugs and our prayers.

Peggy, Dina, and Aron, We're sorry to hear about Mike's passing. He was truly a wonderful person. Having your business downtown across from ours was fun as we got to know each other well over the years. Chatting about the latest parking problems, and then the floods displaced us all. Mikes support of the arts at Kennedy will always be remembered. If you need any help with the business please don't be afraid to ask. Although we aren't "neighbors" anymore, we are still in the same boat after the floods. With Sympathy,

Ruth, you may not remember me but I played little league baseball with Mike and I believe Eldon helped coach the Mt. Pleasant Bank team one year. I wondered many times over the years where mike was and how he was doing. I send my heartfelt prayers to your family. Tete Long

Peggy & family, I am so sorry to hear that Mike has passed, I do not get the paper, so was not aware. I would have visited one last time to say good-by. I was trying to have your daughter let me know, but I know the time was hard. I have been a long time friend from "New Faces" and I also work at Zins. My prayers are with you all.
