Scott Michael McCarthy, 14, of 1045 Dry Creek Lane, Marion, died Saturday, August 15, 2009, as a result of an accident. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 AM Thursday in St. Mark’s Lutheran Faith and Life Center in Marion. Visitation for family and friends will be from 4 to 8 PM Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids, and at the church after 10 AM on Thursday.

Survivors include his mother Tanya (John) Mosinski of Marion, his father Callen (Jill) McCarthy of Dubuque, two sisters Kristin (Shay) and Emily McCarthy of Marion, step-sister Jennifer (Chris) Markham and step-brother David Mosinski all of Cedar Rapids, grandparents, Gary and Carol Caldwell of Marion, Dennis and Marlene McCarthy of Dubuque, and Shirley Mosinski of Packwood, Iowa, his aunt Kelli (Dustin) Caldwell of Cedar Rapids, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Scott was born July 21, 1995, in Cedar Rapids. He was a member of St. Mark’s Faith and Life Center which was very much a part of his life, and was to be confirmed there on September 5, 2009. Scott was a organ and tissue donor. He enjoyed basketball, soccer, wrestling, bowling, mini-golf, four-wheeling, and spending time at Holiday Lake with his family and friends.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
