Beatrice Esther Houser, 91, was born in 1917 and died at Cottage Grove Place on Friday, July 31, 2009. Service: 1 pm Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories.
Visitation will be held Monday from 5 – 7 pm at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.

A lifelong resident of Iowa, she was raised in Toddville and started a family in Cedar Rapids. She was married to Robert Krebs until his death in 1950, and later married Melvin Houser until his death in 1996.

She attended St. Paul’s Methodist Church. Beatrice worked 32 years for Collins Radio Company. After retirement, Bea continued to enjoy her home, garden, mushrooming, fishing, woodcarving and annual visits to her family.

She is survived by three daughters, Robyn (Christopher) Wells of San Francisco, Loretta (Bill) Johnson, and Connie Krebs of Albuquerque, NM; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rudolph and Bessie (Straka) Plistil, and her sister, Alma Morris.
