Memorial

Ardis Lillian Floyd, 85, passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha, with congestive heart failure. Visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. following visitation at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Ardis was born April 24, 1924, in Independence, Iowa, the daughter of Harry C. and Rachel Gardner. She married Harold R. Floyd on Sept. 18, 1947, at Rock Falls, Ill. Ardis worked for Cryovac and was a longtime employee of Turner Microphone where she retired.

Ardis was a wonderful mother and grandmother and enjoyed playing bingo and cards with her family.

Ardis is survived by her daughter, Kathy (Gary) Louvar of Cedar Rapids; one son, Terry Christian (Mary) of Davenport; a stepson, Allan (Fran) Floyd of Lakeland, Ga.; a sister, Jean (Bob) Barta of Solon, IA; a son-in-law, Gail Thompson of Wichita, Kan.; seven grandchildren, Dr. Melissa (Shawn) Louvar Reeves of Charlotte, N.C., Kyle (Nicole) Louvar of Houston, Texas, Denis (Marcia) Chavez and Tony Schmelzer of Cedar Rapids, Greg (Janice) Schmelzer of Springville, Cami (Dr. Tim) Smith of Bettendorf and Todd (Leslie) Christian of Shawano, Wis.; stepgrandchildren, Dale Floyd of Tampa, Fla., Anita Gray and Doug Floyd of Lakeland, Ga.; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold, on June 21, 2004; and her daughter, Dixie Thompson, on Oct. 6, 2005.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha.
