Ann Louise Heiserman, 68, of Cedar Rapids died July 12, 2009 at St. Luke’s Hospital following a short illness. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Private Interment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello, Iowa.

Survivors include her daughter Susan McDermott and husband Tim of Waukee, and their children Paige, Courtney and Griffin; her son John Banes of Las Vegas, and her sister Mary Heiserman of Minneapolis.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Ann was born in Anamosa, Iowa on August 22, 1940, the daughter of Ed and Ruth Heiserman. She graduated from Anamosa High School and attended Iowa State University, graduating from the University of Iowa. She received a master’s degree in music education from Colorado State University in Fort Collins.

After graduation, Ann taught music in the Cleveland Public Schools and later at Iowa State University. She was very active in clubs and philanthropic organizations including Kappa Kappa Gamma, Junior League, P.E.O., T.T.T., and Shakespeare Club. She played the piano for the annual Junior League puppet shows and St. Luke’s Hospital.

Ann loved people and she made friends wherever she went. She was passionate about her family and her music. She adored her children and doted on her grandchildren. She will be missed by her family and friends.

Memorial donations in Ann’s honor may be made to the University of Iowa Foundation School of Music, or to St. Luke’s Hospital.
