Dennis L. “Denny” St. Germain, 61, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, July 5, 2009, as a result of an automobile accident. Services: 10 a.m. Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church by the Rev. Jay Jentink. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Arrangements are entrusted to Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Denny is survived by his wife of 37 years, Pat; children, Matt of Kirksville, MO and Dana of Ft. Worth, TX; sister, Cheryl (Rich) St. Germain – Van Zile of Toddville; nephew and niece, Ben and Andress Van Zile; mother and father-in-law, Jim and Minnie Clar of Cedar Rapids; brother-in-law, Bob (Carla) Clar of Ryan; sister-in-law, Jo Ann (Les) Lang of Monona; cousin, Mark (Hailee) Sandberg of Rowley; and many nieces and nephews, and cousins.

Denny was born on July 17, 1947, in Cedar Rapids to Cecil and Rita St. Germain. He was baptized at Calvary Baptist Church on May 19, 1963, and was a member there for 46 years. Denny graduated from Jefferson High School in 1965 and set track records which he still holds today. He attended Iowa State from 1965 to 1966 and earned an Associates degree from Marshalltown Community College. He went on to earn a BS degree in Business Administration and Physical Education from Upper Iowa in 1971. He married Patricia Clar on July 24, 1971, in Cedar Rapids. Denny worked for CRST and LeFebure before starting his own business, PACE Supply in Fairfax.

Denny was a loving husband, father, and brother. He was very active in his children’s lives; coaching and following their teams, from Little League, college, and beyond. He attended many of his nieces and nephews activities.

Denny was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, the Iowa Golf Course Superintendants, Iowa Landscape and Nursery Association, Iowa Asphalt Pavers’ Association, Iowa Professional Lawn Care Association, and a life member of the Iowa High School Boys’ and Girls’ Athletic Officials Association.
