Memorial

James Ray Fisher, 76, of 1424 Hickory Hollow Rd, Solon, died peacefully Sunday, July 5, 2009, with his family present in his home following a long illness. Services will be held at 1 PM Wednesday in Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Rev. Sheryll Untiedt of the Shueyville United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial with military honors in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Tuesday and at the chapel after 12:30 PM on Wednesday.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years Joanne, four sons Alan and wife Laura of Solon, Eric and wife Rebecca of Granby, Colorado, Todd and wife Denise of Ely, and Drew and wife Kristie of Solon, four brothers Bert and wife Jo of Crawford, Nebraska, Bill and wife Dorothy of Swisher, Ed and Shirley of McAllister, Montana, and Bernie and wife Ardie of Helena, Montana, and eleven grandchildren, Cody, Kyle and wife Danielle, James, Katie, Samantha Sexton and husband Derrick, Jessica Herold and husband Chad, Charlie and wife Andrea, Andrew, Nicholas, Kennedy, and Taylor, and two great grandchildren, Elle and Aven. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister Geraldine.
James was born December 17, 1932 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Arthur and Edna Minick Fisher. He married Joanne Lundquist on April 5, 1953 in Florence, Oregon. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He received the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, and the United Nations Service Medal. He owned and operated Fisher Drywall. He enjoyed shooting sports, horses, ice cream, and his dog Duke.
James was a Godly man, loving husband, wonderful father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Military honors by Marion American Legion Post No 298.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
