Bernice C. Anthes, 87, of 3505 English Glen Ave, Marion, died there Tuesday, June 23, 2009, following a long illness. Services at 11 AM Tuesday in Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family from 4 to 7 PM on Monday in Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, and at the chapel after 10:30 AM on Tuesday.

Bernice was the wonderful, remarkable, and loving wife of Fern Anthes for 67 years, mother of Laura (Neal Denny) Dudek of Marion, and Janet (Rick) Evans of Springville, sister of Shirley (Don) McFarland and Jean Urbanek all of Colorado, grandmother of Kristine, Roxanne (Greg), Michelle (Matt), Robert, Robin (Tim), Calvin (Kristin), Curtis (Caiti), and Cassandra (Alan), great-grandmother to eight and a half great grandchildren, and aunt to several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Marjorie Nelson, and son James Anthes.

Bernice was born May 4, 1922 in West Plains, Missouri to James and Ella Hyde Clapp. She married Fern R. Anthes on April 23, 1942 in the First United Methodist Church in Marion. She was a homemaker and together with Fern farmed near Springville for over 40 years moving to Marion in 1985. She was a member of the Viola Methodist Church and Ladies Aid. She enjoyed taking care of her family, cooking, and doing word search puzzles,
