Irvin "Irv" McCarville, 81, of Marion died Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at his home following a courageous battle with lymphoma. Mass of the Resurrection 10 a.m. Friday at St. Matthews Catholic Church, 2310 First Avenue, N.E., Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Burial with military honors in Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion. Visitation 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, 4200 First Ave NE, Cedar Rapids, with a wake service beginning at 7 p.m.

Irv is survived by his wife, Marian Frommelt, son, Steven (Susan) of Omaha, NE, and daughter Diane (Irwin) Morris of Marion, six grandchildren, Patrick, Michael, Maureen, and Kevin of Omaha; Marie (Justin) Billings and Matt Gilbertson of Marion, three step-grandchildren, and two brothers Harold (Dorothy) of Des Moines and Charley (Ardith) of Brownsboro, TX., a sister-in-law Sherry McCarville of Viola, and many nieces and nephews,
He is preceded in death by his parents, Raphael and Hazel Eldridge McCarville, brother Gerry, and Aunt Madge Eldridge.

Irv was born December 27, 1927 on the family farm near Cresco, Iowa and graduated from Cresco High School in 1945. He married Marian Frommelt on November 9, 1957 at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Mason City, Iowa.

Irv worked for Pepsi Cola Bottling Company as office manager for over 30 years. Since his retirement, he was involved in many volunteer activities. He was a member of St. Matthews Catholic Church, served as an usher, was a member of the Holy Name Society, and Marion American Legion Post 298. Irv was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: St. Matthews Renovation and Renew, Camp Courageous of Iowa, Cedar Rapids Free Clinic, Hospice of Mercy, or Alzheimer's Association.
